Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar, that bastion of Gulf oysters that debuted in New Orleans over 70 years ago, will increase its size by a lot by August. Ian McNulty reports that, in a deal completed Friday, July 7, Felix’s Restaurant Group has taken over the Bourbon Street space that was previously the home of now shuttered Creole Carre. Interestingly, this expansion actually marks a return to that Bourbon Street space — Felix’s occupied it for more than 20 years at one point in the restaurant’s history.
According to the report, Felix’s current spot on Iberville and the newish spot on Bourbon will be connected, “which will form an L shape with entrances on both Bourbon and Iberville streets.”
In the deal finalized on Friday, Felix’s also agreed to take over Amici at 3218 Magazine Street. Both Amici and Creole Carre had been operated by Rizzuto Management Group, which took over the spot that was Tony Angello’s, opening Rizzuto’s at the end of June.
This marks the second recent expansion of Felix’s. Felix’s opened a second location on the water in Gulfport, Mississippi, in May. [NOLA.COM]
