Blake’s on Poydras opened its doors on May 5 in the long-time home of the now-shuttered Horinoya at 920 Poydras Street in the CBD. The restaurant is now serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Dinner service will begin in the next few weeks.
The opening breakfast menu includes like pancakes, breakfast tacos on house-made corn tortillas, scrambles and omelettes served with grits and biscuits, and a few variations on eggs Benedict. The brunch menu includes shrimp and grits, “chicken fried chicken,” and pan-seared salmon. The lunch menu includes sandwiches like po-boys, burgers, and a BLT, as well as soups and salads.
According to our earlier report, owner Alex Miller “named the restaurant after his son, who is autistic, and hopes that the spot will shed some light on the cause; some of the menu’s dishes will support the Spears Learning Center, where Blake attends.”
Horinoya closed a year ago when the lease was up and chef Komei Horimoto — after 50 years in the biz — decided he needed a break.
Monday – Thursday: 7 am – 10 pm
Friday – Sunday: Opens at 7am. No specific closing time.
