Bud’s Broiler Is Expanding to Baton Rouge

The new spot will be located near LSU

BRASTED

Bud’s Broiler, the iconic charcoal burger mini-chain that opened in New Orleans in 1952, is expanding to Baton Rouge, reports Todd Price. The newest location will open at the spot that formerly housed Rotolo’s Pizza near LSU, likely before the start of football season. This news comes on the heels of the news that New Orleans is sending a few Dat Dog shops Baton Rouge’s way as well. Things are looking up for BR.

This marks the first expansion outside of the New Orleans area for the burger chain. Currently there are several locations in New Orleans, as well as Metairie, Chalmette, and Covington.

Alfred “Bud” Sanders opened the first Bud’s Broiler on the corner of Airline and Cleary in 1952. In 1956, he opened the City Park location, which is now the oldest Bud’s Broiler still in existence. Shannon McGuire, the franchisee for the City Park location, is opening the new Bud’s Broiler in Baton Rouge.

The restaurant gained a cult following for charcoal grilled burgers and hot dogs. The hot dogs are sliced down the center and served on a hamburger bun with toppings including chili, cheese, and/or hickory barbecue sauce. [NOLA.COM]
