We now know what will replace the Japanese restaurant Horinoya in the Central Business District, reports Todd A. Price over at NOLA.com. Blake’s on Poydras is expected to open its doors at 920 Poydras Street at some point within the next two weeks.
Blake’s is owned by Alex Miller, who described the cuisine of the forthcoming restaurant to NOLA.com as “Southern comfort food with a little bit of Louisiana influence.”
Open daily for all three square meals, Miller explains that it will be a cool spot to hang out at before or after Saints games.
Miller named the restaurant after his son, who is autistic, and hopes that the spot will shed some light on the cause; some of the menu’s dishes will support the Spears Learning Center, where Blake attends.
Horinoya closed last May when the lease was up and chef Komei Horimoto — after 50 years in the biz — decided he needed a break.
