Desi Vega’s Prime Burger and Shakes will open its doors in the recently closed burger-spot Phil’s Grill (1640 Hickory Avenue) in April, reports Helen Freund. Desi Vega’s Prime Burger and Shakes is the latest restaurant from the all-star team behind Mr. John’s Steakhouse (2111 St Charles Ave, New Orleans) and Desi Vega’s Steakhouse (628 St. Charles Ave).
“Menus and final details on the opening are still in the works, but the restaurant should open in the next two weeks, an employee of the St. Charles Avenue steak restaurant said,” reports Freund.
This marks much-needed positive news for local burger lovers. Last month the word on the burger front was that not one — but two — Wahlburgers will be unleashed on the greater New Orleans area. (At the rate that chain is expanding, it was only a matter of time.) This news came directly after would-be local chain Phil’s Grill announced it would close its Harahan location, the final one to shutter.
Harahan has quietly been acquiring new and notable restaurants in the past few years. In addition to solid standbys like Seither’s, Bobby’s Seafood, and Taste of Tokyo, the area recently added Oak Oven and Heads & Tails.
