Openings
Green Tea restaurant celebrated the grand opening of its new location at S. Claiborne and Napoleon on Friday, February 24. Originally located in the Garden District, the locally owned Chinese restaurant was displaced when a CVS moved in to its spot two years ago.
Owner Yung Lau has been praised for his development of the property, which had been vacant since the levees failed in 2005.
Mardi Gras Madness
Daiquiris & Company bouncer Neilson Rizzuto, also known as “Pasta,” allegedly slammed his gray pick-up truck into Endymion parade goers on Saturday night. Twenty-five people were injured in the incident. According to police, the Ponchatoula native’s blood-alcohol level was still three times the legal limit two hours after the accident.
Parade News
Chef Donald Link reined as grand marshall of the Krewe of Thoth on Sunday. Each float celebrated a different ingredient or dish, as the parade honored the culinary arts. The Mardi Gras krewe, also known as the “Krewe of Shut-ins,” travels a route far Uptown, passing 14 institutions that care for the disabled or ill.
