NEWS — A reef rebuilding program that utilized area restaurants’ discarded oyster shells on Louisiana’s coast may be in jeopardy. While it was initially the fastest growing program, a grant that helped fund the collection recently expired, leaving restaurants stuck paying half the cost of $150 per collection bin. Approximately 26 participating restaurants have left the program recently. [AP via ABC]
