Breakfast and brunch mini chain Ruby Slipper Cafe is now slinging barbecue shrimp & grits and eggs Benedict in Uptown. The seventh outpost debuted on February 1 in the former Brick & Spoon space at 2802 Magazine St., according to The Advocate.
The newly minted restaurant features the company’s signature all-day breakfast menu with dishes like the Gulf shrimp and cheddar cheese Louisianan omelet, migas, and brioche French toast. Diners can also expect that boozy brunch cocktails.
Ruby Slipper founders Jennifer and Erich Weishaupt aren’t planning to take a breather between expansions, either. Ian McNulty reveals that the couple is about to bring a location to Baton Rouge, filling the shuttered Pei Wei Asian Diner at 3535 Perkins Road this spring. The pair had previously unveiled plans to move into the vacant union hall on Broad Street. That location, slated to undergo renovations this year, will replace the original Mid-City restaurant on South Cortez as well as housing a commissary kitchen and offices.
The Ruby Slipper — Uptown is located at 2802 Magazine St.; open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Website.
