Gracious Bakery swung open its doors over the weekend in Manhattanjack’s former location on Prytania. The newest Gracious Bakery has a larger menu than the other locations, with waffles as well as custom-blended coffee drinks.
This is the fourth location of the popular bakery and cafe. The original location is on Jeff Davis Parkway, and a second location opened on St. Charles Avenue in January 2017. A smaller, take-out only location, is located on Earhart.
Manhattanjack closed at the beginning of August, with allegations of mismanagement and unpaid employees quickly following the closure. Co-owner Coleman Jernigan had wanted to reopen the cafe without his business partner, Jack Petronella, but those plans never panned out.
The Flying Pig, a Southern restaurant, opened on Prytania on September 1, in Kyoto’s longtime spot. Kohai, an Osaka restaurant from a former Kyoto restaurant apprentice Kanetha Chau, opened on Prytania last month.
