Beignet Fest Postponed To December Due to Tropical Storm Nate

Beignet lovers, mark your calendars for December 2nd.

Sorry beignet enthusiasts — this year’s Fest has been postponed.

Beignet Fest — which promised to have an absolutely killer line-up of sweet eats — has been postponed until December due to Tropical Storm Nate. Mayor Landrieu declared a state of emergency last night and Nate is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico by tonight. It’s unclear how much damage will be done by the storm — which will likely strengthen into a hurricane by the time it reaches NOLA — but the Fest organizers decided to preemptively postpone until December 2.

The newly scheduled December event will be the second annual incarnation of the Fest, which brings together beignet vendors from across town. While some go the traditional route — Cafe Beignet’s only menu item is the traditional beignet — others are going wild. Legacy Kitchen Collection tops their beignet bites with a crawfish sauce; Cafe Maspero will offer beignet fries. Meanwhile, Girls Gone Vegan’s beignets (and brownies and donuts) aren’t only vegan — they’re also gluten free.

Beignet Fest proceeds go to the Tres Doux Foundation, which supports children with developmental delays and disabilities.
