Movie theaters aren’t normally known for their gracious food offerings, so when a theater really steps it up, it’s kind of a big deal. Add The Broad Theater to the list of movie palaces that go above and beyond with their snacks and drinks; the Mid-City theater is debuting a menu designed by Chef Nick Vella, reports Helen Freund at Gambit.
Vella — who is currently a chef at Revel Cafe & Bar and who has logged time at Vessel — told Gambit that he kind of had his heart set on pizza for The Broad Theater, which ultimately proved impossible without gas or a hood. The compromise is a menu of baked stromboli. Four flavors in all, there’s one stuffed with pepperoni, one filled with pulled pork, a stromboli with just veggies, as well as a Cuban version.
There will also be a grab-and-go menu — wraps and salads, hummus with chips and vegetables. There will also be “adult lunchables,” or grown-up takes on the classic packaged lunch: charcuterie and plates of cheese and fruit.
Gambit says that a new bar — set to debut in November — is also coming to The Broad Theater and will focus on craft cocktails.
The Broad Theater experienced flooding back in August but were able to complete repairs quickly and reopen.
