The Northshore is is swapping up its locally owned Mexican restaurants as Felipe’s Taqueria closes its doors in Slidell and Pepe’s opens in Covington, reports NOLA.COM.
Felipe’s, which opened three years ago in the Fremaux Town Center, will close on October 28 so that the local restaurant mini-chain can focus its efforts on the New Orleans and Florida Markets. In recent years, the chain has expanded to Gainesville and Naples. It also operated several restaurants in New Orleans: Uptown, Mid City, and the French Quarter.
The Slidell location of Felipe’s will say goodbye with a “Salud Slidell” special and $2 draft beers from on October 27 and October 28.
Meanwhile, Pepe’s Mexican restaurant prepares to make its debut in historic downtown Covington in November. It will be the third Covington-area restaurant for Osman Rodas, who also operates Pardo's American Bistro and Forks & Corks.
