The Mason Jar, the new, casual, extremely affordable, American-style restaurant from fast-expanding Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts, has opened in Metairie with a menu built to satisfy — sandwiches, poboys, salads, and burgers. It’s located in the spot that had previously housed a short-lived, family-friendly daiquiri restaurant also owned by Creole Cuisine Restaurant Concepts.
To keep the main menu fresh, the restaurant features rotating “blue plate specials,” which include New Orleans favorites like eggs Pontchartrain, white beans and fried catfish, and red beans and rice.
The promised “truly robust kids' menu” features six items that remain true to the American style theme — white starch, cheese, and fried things in the form of cheese burgers, cheese pita pizzas, mac and cheese, fried shrimp, and others. Each dish, coming in at a cost-effective $5, comes with a drink, fries, Gogurt, plus another sweet.
The cafe is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and until 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
