2017 is off to a bad start


CENTRAL CITY— Barbecue bar and live music venue Black Label Icehouse has shuttered , Todd Price reports. The concept, which was opened in September 2015 by owner Mary Slason and Damian Brugger, the pitmaster who originally founded Black Label as a Texas-style barbecue pop-up at Ms. Mae’s and Barrel Proof, was one of the most anticipated openings of 2015. In July 2016, Slason ousted Brugger from the business, and he now operates Brügger's Barbecüe at St. Roch Market.]

UPTOWN— According to a Facebook post, Magazine Street’s year-old coffee shop expansion HiVolt Bakery is closed and in the process of turning into a catering-only operation. You’ll have to find those tasty baked goods and java at the original HiVolt Coffee in the LGD from now on. A call to the bakery reveals the phone is disconnected, but a call to the original HiVolt confirms that the spot is indeed already closed for business. [Facebook]
