Look Around Rooftop Hotspot Monkey Board

Hot pretzels and cold drinks on The Troubadour’s roof

Josh Brasted

Here’s a look around the new food truck-inspired rooftop lounge Monkey Board.

The bar and eatery opens on weekdays at 5 p.m. (and weekends at 11 a.m.) atop new boutique hotel The Troubadour with an all-outdoor space, incredible views of the city, entertainment from DJs and bands, shareable birthday cakes, communal drinks, and street art by local artist Gabe Flores.

The menu features food truck eats from chefs Phillip Lopez, Ben McCauley and team— a fried chicken sandwich with housemade bread and butter pickles, a pretzel loaf with beer and cheese fondue, and a few items that already made their debut on an actual food truck last month, including a lobster meat hotdog and chilaquiles with salsa verde.

On the drinks side, Twelve Mile Limit owner and cocktail whiz T. Cole Newton has created the menu, which includes a house sangria and swizzle and some large-format cocktail pitchers.
