Fans of Jamaican cuisine will get to sink their teeth into a whole lot of country’s signature dish — jerk chicken — at a new event launching next month. The Times-Picayune reports that the has confirmed the lineup of vendors slated to feed the masses at the first-ever NOLA Jerk Chicken Festival.
The event, which takes place at smokehouse newcomer Central City BBQ on February 11, was developed by the NOLA Caribbean Festival and will feature 15 restaurants and food trucks serving Jamaican-style fare. Additionally, revelers can expect live music, a Scotch Bonnet pepper eating contest, and a Jerk chicken competition judged by Croquette’s Kristen Essig, Dancing Man 504 Darryl Young, restaurateur Adolfo Garcia, WDSU anchor Adriana Hopkins, and Dr. Brobson Lutz.
