Well, its safe to say that New Orleans barbecue scene has reached peaked smokiness with the start of 2017. Belle Chasse barbecue shack LA 23 BBQ has just debuted its larger new digs, Todd Price reports this week, and with that comes more room to gobble up excellent Texas-style brisket, ribs and more meaty specialties.

The long-awaited expansion from fishing guides turned pit masters Bobby Monsted III and Aaron Gelfand is inspired by central Texas trading posts ie. stainless steel building with a big covered porch.

There are two custom built smokers on site, as well as covered seating 45+ via four tops, a high top and picnic tables, and also new— LA 23 BBQ has delivery to the Greater New Orleans area for larger orders (which you can place as early as 4 a.m. according to Price).

The menu also features sausage, chicken and classic barbecue sides—mac and cheese, slaw, baked beans. Beer will also be available in the summer.

Status: Open Mon-Fri, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tues-Thurs, 4:30 to 8 p.m. for dinner at 9661 La. 23, Belle Chasse, (504) 657-3693. On Facebook here.
