A Tavern For Dog Lovers Lands In The Quarter

& a new Middle Eastern spot hits Mid City

QUARTER— Tahyo Tavern, A new pub for dogs and dog lovers is open at 1140 Decatur St in the Quarter from stars Mariah Harmony and Tania Torres of Animal Planet’s reality show Pitbulls and Parolees, Ian McNulty reports. A menu includes pub grub and vegetarian fare. A full bar even rocks a nonalcoholic beer for dogs (and a dog snack menu is to come), with proceeds helping to support the owners’ Villalobos Rescue Center in the Ninth Ward.

MID CITY— A casual new eatery Jerusalem Cafe is open at 2132 Tulane Avenue (next door to Anita’s Diner), Helen Freund reports. Jerusalem native/first time restaurateur Ali Hinawi brings Middle Eastern and Mediterranean eats to the bustling medical corridoor with a menu that includes all the hits and then some—hummus, baba ghanoush, stuffed grape leaves, falafel platters, lamb kebabs, Lebanese tea and Turkish coffee—but no booze.
