A Hot New Taco Pop-Up To Try in The Quarter This Weekend

QUARTER— Helen Freund reports that new taco pop-up Bird by Bird La Taqueria is now operating out of Molly’s (1107 Decatur) from David Robertshaw (he of Sidney Saloon’s tandoori pop up fame). Expect burritos, tacos, salads and more for $7 and under every Tues-Sat, 4 p.m. to midnight. . [Gambit]

BYWATER— Todd Price reports that cocktail and snack hub Oxalis has a new chef, Evan Tappen, an alum of Michelin starred restaurants Patina (in Los Angeles) and North Pond (Chicago). A new menu includes “Vietnamese-style caramelized pork cheeks with gnocchi and a pork shank bo ssam,” along with some Latin American influences. []

QUARTER— Price also reports that former Lüke chef Matt Regan is now IN at Maison Dupuy, running the eatery Bistreaux, where he brings a mix of Southern and global influences to a seafood heavy menu. []

NOLA— Sarah Baird reports that New Orleans’ first custom ice business Melt New Orleans is up and running from ice pro Chuck Avery, who “offers finely tuned cubes” to hotspots including Lilette and Faubourg Wines along with private clientele. [Advocate]
