One of our most anticipated fall openings is now up and running in Bucktown. Station 6 marks the return of chef Alison Vega, who founded Old Metairie's Vega Tapas Café back in the mid-90s. Vega and her husband, chef Drew Knoll, spent the last decade cooking in the Caribbean before moving back to New Orleans, where Knoll is currently a partner at a local seafood wholesaler.
Their new family-friendly eatery, open Tuesday through Sunday on the Metairie lakefront, is all about Gulf seafood (see Knoll break down a whole tuna in this Nola.com video); its fresh catch-based menu features oysters on the half shell, tossed in pasta or fried in a sandwich, as well as grilled salmon tacos and a cracked crab stew. But there are tempting meat dishes too, including the Sloppy Drew with braised beef and horseradish sauce and a 14-ounce prime ribeye sizzled in a cast iron skillet.
