QUARTER— Swanky Restaurant R'evolution, the fine dining bastion within theRoyal Sonesta New Orleans hotel, will bring together legendary Champagne house Verve Clicquot and Urbani Truffles, the world's largest truffle purveyor, for a one-night-only luxurious dinner on Monday, October 3. Starting with hors d’oeuvres at 6 p.m., the four-course meal, created by chefs John Folse and Rick Tramonto, includes truffle foie gras torchon and braised beef short-rib with black truffle parsnip purée, paired with champagne. UPTOWN— Gambit reports that Piccola Gelateria is coming to The Faubourg Freret, the new mixed-use development at 4525 Freret Street. The shop will specialize in authentic Italian gelato made without artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. Traditional flavors, including Nutella and tiramisu will be represented, but Piccola Gelateria co-owner/chef Ross Turnbull will also create savory versions of gelato. UPTOWN— Loyola University grad Rob Connoley, a James Beard Award semifinalist, will be in town on Wednesday, October 5 for a 6 p.m. book signing of his recently-released cookbook Acorns & Cattails at Maple Street Bookshop. The book features modern foraged restaurants from the chef's acclaimed New Mexico restaurant The Curious Kumquat, which Connoley shuttered to prep a new project in his hometown of St. Louis, MO.
