Very sad news this week, with Todd Price reporting that Theodore ‘Ted’ Brennan, former longtime proprietor of New Orleans institution Brennan’s and mastermind of upcoming Ted Brennan’s Decatur, has passed away at 68 years of age.

In 2013, after much heated infighting with brother "Pip" Brennan over operations at his family’s big pink Royal Street institution, Ted Brennan lost Brennan’s to foreclosure and bankruptcy after 40 years of running the restaurant.

Brennan was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease shortly after, though he still planned to open a new restaurant called Ted Brennan’s Decatur, an homage to his father, Owen Brennan, the founder of Brennan’s.

Ted Brennan’s Decatur is set to open this fall, with Brennan’s children Bridget Brennan Tyrrell and Teddy Brennan running the show, along with former Brennan’s executive chef Lazone Randolph in the kitchen.
