Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine proved last night that he’s not immune to the allure of New Orlean’s finest po’ boys. In the midst of courting voters and schmoozing donors on Wednesday night the senator from Virginia stopped by Bayou St. John essential Parkway Bakery & Tavern for one of it’s legendary sandwiches. According to The Advocate, Kaine — joined by his nephew John (a grad student at Tulane University), congressman Cedric Richmond, and mayor Mitch Landrieu — ordered a shrimp po’ boy dressed.

Of course, Kaine’s choice didn’t win the heart of every voter. Some users goaded the Clinton running mate on Twitter about his order.

In addition to his sandwich stop, The Times-Picayune reports that Kaine spent a portion of Wednesday at a $1,000-a-head fundraiser at Calcasieu above Cochon. Kaine has been on a whirlwind tour of the South this week, making a campaign pitstop at a taqueria in Austin and visiting Gloria’s Latin Cuisine in Dallas where the candidate shook hands with diners but failed to eat a single thing.
