UPTOWN— The former owners of Frankie & Johnny’s, Darryl and Ellen Cortello, have just opened a new neighborhood cafe Luca Eats, Robert Morris reports.
Luca Eats specializes in breakfast sandwiches and panini in the $6-$10 range, French Truck coffee drinks, plate specials and even housemade hummus.
The Cortellos have revamped the small take-out spot Roman Pizza (it’s a former gas station as well) with an open kitchen, seating for 25, and plans to potentially add outdoor seating.
The restaurant is either named after The Godfather character Luca Brasi or the couple’s shih tzu. Apparently you’ll find pictures of both on the wall.
