GARDEN DISTRICT— The City Planning Commission denied a request for a booze permit to a planned ice cream and sandwich shop/wine store at 1302 Magazine Street from a Barq's Root Beer heiress. [NOLA.com]

MID CITY— Todd Price reports that Mr. Ed's Oyster Bar & Fish House will open a fourth location in the current Pei Wei space (N. Carrollton and Bienville) in August. Expect "fried catfish, charbroiled oysters and shrimp remoulade." [NOLA.com]

GARDEN DISTRICT— Owner Joyce Park on the new location of Little Korea BBQ debuting next week at 2204 Magazine: "We'll have a large meat selection, bibimbap, soups and our Little Korea signature dish, spicy oxtail... a full bar menu and Korean shaved ice." [Gambit]

UPTOWN— Ian McNulty discovers the menu at newly-opened Chais Delachaise this week: "There's an unusual but delicious bit of Dutch drinking food called bitterballen. Made from beef and roux cooked together, rolled into balls and fried, they're like croquettes that burst with a thick, meaty gravy when you bite in." [Advocate]
