Pauline and Stephen Patterson, the Irish natives who opened Finn McCool's on Banks Street in Mid City in 2002 (and reopened post-K in 2006) have announced that they are selling the bar well known for watching soccer and hosting one of the best St. Patrick Day parties in the city.
Pauline Patterson confirmed to Eater that they will still be the owners of the Tulane St. eatery and lounge, Treo, which the pair opened in 2014. "The overwhelming two questions are: one, are we moving back to Ireland? No, we live here, and we still own Treo." The answer to the second question, she says, is "No, we don't have cancer."
The new owners are fellow Irishman and Finn's regular Sean Kennedy, along with dabbling restaurateur Anthony Macaluso. According the Patterson, the pair are "so f***ing excited" to take over.
According to the Facebook post written by Patterson announcing the changing of the guard:
We have passed on Finn McCool's to new owners who will continue to make Finn's the Best Irish, Neighborhood and Sports Pub in the City...This will let us have more time for each other, let us spend more time with y'all and enjoy more of what New Orleans and the World has to offer.
Ian McNulty has more on the history of Finn's along with background on the new buyers.
