Bar Frances Brings Natural Wines & Patio Dining To Freret

Vegetarians will find great food options here too.

Bar Frances, the hotly-anticipated wine bar and cafe from wine guys Mark Latter (owner of Tujague's and Bin 428)  and PJ Rosenberg (a Martin's and Uncorked alum) is now open on Freret.

Ian McNulty reports that the new spot—named in honor of Rosenberg's grandmother— features a shaded patio out front, a great selection of natural and organic wines as well as affordable on-tap options, and a menu of French-inspired American cuisine from recent New Haven transplant/chef Brendan Cahill, who also honed his chops "at a small bistro in Paris."

Bar Frances also serves late on the weekends, and is great for vegetarians:

Roughly half of the dishes are meatless. There's... tartare of beets with aioli, gnocchi with charred eggplant and baguette toasts topped with a mix of grilled and pickled mushrooms.

Hours:  Mon-Thurs, 5 to 10 p.m. Fri-Sat, 5 p.m. to  midnight. Sun, 5 to 9 p.m. Lunch and brunch to come. (504) 371-5043.  Official website here.
