This week Helen Freund ventures down to Arabi for a taste of newly-opened neighborhood spot Kitchen Table Cafe: "The short menu features simple dishes that highlight fresh seasonal ingredients" from chef and co-owner Kevin Hackett. Try the medium-rare hanger steak, "a perfect medium rare with a flavorful medley of sauteed mushrooms and garlic, parsley and citrus gremolata" and the brandade-like smoked fish spread. [Gambit]
This week Brett Anderson takes a critical moment to remove Meauxbar from his list of Critic’s Picks (ie. best restaurants in New Orleans), and adds Riverbed gem Carrollton Market: Chef Jason Goodenough’s "current menu is filled with seasonal dishes sensibly conceived and flawlessly executed" with cooking that’s "stylish without being trendy" and "service is unobtrusively on point." Plus, their pisco sours rule. [NOLA.com]
