Mid City Is A Step Closer To Landing an Anticipated Wood-Fired Pizzeria & Bakery

Plus, no drive-thru Taco Bell for Broad & GW Fins closes in July for renovations

MID CITY— Della Hasselle reports that plans for a new wood-fired pizzeria and bakery from the 1000 Figs team have been approved by the City Planning Commission.  The new eatery will take over the ground floor of a mixed use building at 3200 Banks if City Council also approves. [MidCityMessenger]

MID CITY— Hasselle also reports that plans for a drive-thru Taco Bell at 225 N. Broad have been shut down by the city, and it turns out that city law actually prohibits any fast food drive-thrus from opening in the area.  The chain could essentially still open there without a drive-thru, but the neighborhood opposition is fierce. NOLA— Ann Maloney reports that three exclusive dinners are planned for New Orleans on June 2, July 9 and August 4 to support the Audubon Nature Institute's sustainable seafood program. The Summer of Sustainability dinner series features tons of local chefs including Alex Harrell, Tenney Flynn, Kristen Essig, Susan Spicer, and many more, with tix ranging from $100-$150/person. QUARTER— Brett Anderson reports that preeminent seafood destination GW Fins is closing for renovations, July 3-25, in order to gut the kitchen and install new state of the art equipment.  [NOLA.com]

MARRERO— Cafe Hope's third annual benefit Food Fest is tomorrow, May 14, with family-friendly entertainment, food (including charbroiled oysters, barbecue and more eats from the likes of Bayona, Ancora, Johnny Sanchez and more.
