Pirogue's Whiskey Bayou & Rear Window Will Bring Beer Garden to Arabi

An excellent new bar and pop-up have big plans for backyard

Arabi has some cool stuff going on these days. Across the street from the newly opened Kitchen Table Cafe, Pirogue's Whiskey Bayou is now open from former Markey's bartenders Muriel Altikriti and Lisa McCracken and longtime BJs bartender Kelly Sheeran in the former Perino's space. The bar is also home to a great new eatery Rear Window from pop-up pros Matt Hayashi and Amie Marvel.

Hayashi and Marvel have been making names for themselves since around 2012 with the popular Dim Sum & The Some pop up at The Joint and Four Calendar Cafe at Faubourg Wines.

Their new bar menu features bar snacks galore— hot chicken sandwich, grilled shrimp roll with slaw and spicy remoulade (pictured), crawfish poutine, wings, duck liver toast, deviled eggs and more.

But even more exciting... the duo tell Eater that they have plans in the near future to open a beer garden in the bar's large backyard, potentially with live entertainment (for special events), and definitely with specialties from their new smoker.

The new beer garden at Pirogue's Whiskey Bayou debuts with an opening event on Saturday, May 14.
