As reported last week, Dryades Public Market will finally announce its presence and mission to the community with a Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, April 16, 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. There will be music, food samplings, full grocery offerings, cooking demos, community information tables and kids activities. The Grand Opening is free to the public and open to all.
The Market, which went through a significant change of leadership and focus when the original CEO of the project, John Burns, stepped down after it was clear that it was stalled in a pit of overreaching and unnecessary goals and priorities as Jack & Jake's Public Market. Local chef and pasta maker Daniel Esses stepped up and put things on track. The market has been open with limited departments since late December, including a Esses' pasta shop, a hot bar and sandwich menu, eggs and dairy, and Curious Oyster Company.
Now, the market is humming with new staff and more and more products coming in every day, and on April 16, the public is invited to celebrate with everyone who's been working so hard to overcome the previous bad juju and make this a place where the whole community is welcome and will fulfill the day to day needs of the neighborhood and the greater New Orleans area.
