Kitchen Table Cafe, a new neighborhood eatery in Arabi, has just opened in the former Old Arabi Eats space from owners Donna Cavato and Kevin Hackett. The restaurant sources produce locally, sometimes even from the owners' own garden in Holy Cross— not surprising, as Cavato also happens to be a founding member of the Edible School Yard of Firstline Schools and Hackett is a Mariza alum who also ran the kitchen at Markey's from about 2002 to 2009.

The cafe serves an affordable lunch menu including sandwiches, salads, and appetizers like pimento cheese spread, wings, and housemade desserts.

The dinner menu is a bit more refined with entrees including a pan-fried whole fish and hangar steak. Hackett tells Eater there are plans to add beer and wine in the near future.

Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Kitchen Table Cafe is on Facebook.

As for Old Arabi Eats, the restaurant seems to have shuttered for good in late 2015, with rumors that one of the owners is no longer in town.
