Kyoto Owner Sara Molony Passes Away At Age 56

Very sad news from Uptown, with Todd Price reporting that Kyoto sushi bar owner and New Orleans native Sara Molony has passed away due to cancer and multiple organ failure.   Molony opened Kyoto in 1995 with Mitsuko Tanner (current owner of Origami) and Takami Tanabe, but became the sole owner after Katrina.

Molony was known for bringing up female sushi chefs, and her employees often regarded her as a second mom. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home will hold a visitation on Thursday, February 25, at 11 a.m. followed by services at 1 p.m.
