Cavan, the highly-anticipated new spot for American coastal cuisine from Leblanc + Smith (of Sylvain, Meauxbar, Barrel Proof fame) opens this evening at 3607 Magazine. The restaurant is a sprawling stunner located in the former Duke Morgan's The Spa, or as Ian McNulty reports,  "the Cockerton House, after Alfred William Cockterton, a state official who built it in 1881."

Cavan features two floors of laidback dining and boozing—complete with antiques, incredible design elements, and sexy red banquette seating— including a main dining room and bar downstairs, a chic upstairs cocktail lounge, and an outdoor patio overlooking Magazine Street.

Meauxbar chef Kristen Essig is also heading up the kitchen at Cavan, with a menu that includes raw bars offerings, casual peel and eat shrimp, clam chowder, and instead of bread service—ranch-flavored oyster crackers.

Cavan officially opens at 4 p.m. for drinks. 5 p.m. for dinner.
