UPTOWN— Brunch and breakfast empire Ruby Slipper will open a new location in the recently shuttered Brick & Spoon space at 2802 Magazine, Ian McNulty reports. Expect the restaurant’s signature all day brunch menu and a full bar. This will be the fourth location in New Orleans, with a Broad St. compound, including a large restaurant and the company’s headquarters, also planned for late 2017. Meanwhile, McNulty reports that the planned Warehouse District location of Brick & Spoon may actually be a no-go. [Advocate]
NOLA— New Orleans Magazine has just named its Best of Dining 2016, with Michael Gulotta (of MoPho) taking top chef honors and Brennan’s taking restaurant of the year. The dining writers also dive into the issues surrounding Nola’s restaurant saturation and a potential staffing crisis: “Robert has been hearing from restaurateurs for the last several years that the city can’t support the current number of restaurants. The logic adds up... rents are higher both for commercial and residential properties, and our population, while larger than the first few years after Katrina, still isn’t what it once was.” [MyNewOrleans.com]
