The team behind Restaurant Rebirth is opening a new spot for Cajun food in the Warehouse District, Helen Freund reports this week. Galliano, a new concept headed up by chef and Galliano, Louisiana native Ricky Cheramie— a K-Paul’s and Commander’s alum— opens Tuesday, December 13 in the former Root space.
Cheramie’s menu is inspired by the Bayou Lafourche area with items including smoked duck boudin, raw oysters, fried catfish, po’ boys and a ‘fried swamp platter’ comprised of fried crawfish tails, alligator and frog legs. The bar features local beers, cocktails and a 40+ bottle wine selection developed by GM Manny Pineda.
Restaurant Rebirth opened at 857 Julia in the Warehouse District in December 2015, with locally sourced Creole and Cajun food.
Status: Officially opens December 13 at 200 Julia Street (at Fulton). Open 7 days a week 11am-10pm. On Facebook. Official website here. (504) 302-2047.
