Frey Smoked Meat Co. Brings The Brisket Chili To Mid City This Week

Officially opening on Friday, November 11

Facebook

One of fall’s most anticipated restaurants, Frey Smoked Meat Co., is officially opening this Friday, November 11, in the Mid City Market.

Rue 127 owner and chef Ray Gruezke— who has been honing his talent as a pitmaster with his competitive barbecue team (and 2014 Hogs For The Cause award winner for ribs) for three years— brings a menu that includes everything from barbecue platters to buckets of biscuits, with burgers, grilled redfish on the half shell, crazy macaroni and cheese variations, fried chicken, and your new cold weather hangover bff, brisket chili, in store. Entrees are mostly under $20.

The milkshake game will be strong here (but giant portions will set you back $15) with Nutella peanut butter and coffee & doughnuts flavors. If booze is more appealing, the bar features 50+ whiskeys and beers to choose from, plus eight more brews on draft.

Per a press release, the restaurant—named after Gruezke’s great-great-great-grandfather and 19th Century French Market butcher Andreas Frey— will have about 80 seats inside and huge warehouse-style doors that open up to a patio with seating for 20, along with take-out and delivery options.

Status: Officially opens at 4141 Bienville Street for dinner on Friday, November 11 and Saturday, November 12. Open for lunch and dinner daily after that. On Facebook here. Official Website here. (504) 488- RIBS.
