BAYOU ST. JOHN— Della Hasselle reports that po’ boy landmark Parkway Bakery & Tavern is on the way to expanding by 2,000-square-feet on Hagan Avenue, with plans for new bathrooms and more room in general. The request goes before the City tomorrow and already passed the CPC without a hitch.
UPDATE 11/7: City Council has indeed approved Parkway’s expansion plans, so the project is moving forward. [MidCityMessenger]
FRENCH QUARTER— Ever-booming coffee empire French Truck is opening a new location at 221 Chartres Street in the historic May & Ellis Building come January 2017. Expect coffee and tea service and Gracious Bakery pastries. This comes hot on the heels of a big expansion year for owner Geoffrey Meeker, who opened an Uptown location, restored longtime panini-hub The Grocery and recently brought his small-batch coffee business to Memphis. French Truck will also debut a Baton Rouge shop in 2017. [Eaterwire]
