Folks in the CBD and Uptown can get a taste of Monkey Board—the anticipated rooftop bar and street food spot from upcoming Warehouse District boutique hotel The Troubadour and Root/Square Root chef and empire builder Phillip Lopez— thanks to the debut of the Monkey Board Food Truck today.

The truck just hit the streets this morning, and is serving coffee and lighter fare in the morning and a lunch menu that includes a ‘pretzel lobster dog,’ chilaquiles, crudité and hummus, and the PL Burger— PL meaning Petit Lion, which is the name of chef Lopez’s ground floor bistro at The Troubadour.

The truck will also be handing out guitar picks that you can use for a complimentary drink at Monkey Board when it opens (later this month, likely). Twelve Mile Limit owner and cocktail whiz T. Cole Newton has created the drinks for the hotel, which includes the rooftop and groundfloor eateries and a punch-oriented lobby lounge.

The Troubadour—a Joie de Vivre brand hotel with 17 floors and 184 guest rooms—sounds like its going for full entertainment-mecca appeal a la the Ace, which opened earlier this year in the Warehouse District.

So do take a moment to sneak a taste of what’s to come.

Catch the Monkey Board Food Truck right now at Tulane Avenue and Lasalle, until 2 p.m. Then at Prytania and Delachaise from 3 to 5 p.m.

Tomorrow, the truck will be at the corner of Poydras and Loyola from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and in front of Tulane University on St. Charles avenue form 3 to 5 p.m.
