Chalmette Gets A New Vegetarian-Friendly Cafe

Plus, an old fave expands with a new oyster bar

CHALMETTE— A mindful new eatery Cafe Aquarius is now open from the owners of St. Bernard bakery Flour Power, Todd Price reports. The cafe does vegetarian dishes including a vegan Buffalo ‘chicken’ wrap, but there’s also a Cubano and a beefy croque on the menu, and house baked breads, cakes and pastries to steal the show. CHALMETTE— Meme’s Bar & Grille has just expanded with a brand new oyster bar, after a major renovation, Ian McNulty reports. As per the food: “Broiled and grilled oysters have formed a centerpiece of chef Lincoln Owens’ menu... next to steaks and grilled fish, crabcakes and a robustly garlicky barbecue shrimp.” Open for lunch an dinner Tues-Fri and dinner on Tues-Sat at 712 W.
