New Orleans burger and street food truck Foodie Call is taking over the kitchen at beloved Riverbend bar Cooter Brown's, Todd Price reports this week. The bar's new owners— the team behind Warehouse District boozery Rusty Nail—recently announced plans to pare down the beer selection and make some changes, though none too radical (i.e. raw oysters and the Hall of Foam remain).
Foodie Call's founder and chef Eric Theard will bring a slew of noteworthy burgers, poutine and more pub eats to the menu, alongside some of the bar's classics—mainly po' boys. No word on if Cooter's signature chili cheese fries will make the cut.
The new kitchen will be run by the bar, as opposed to functioning as an independent contractor, which means you'll now be able to have just one tab for both food and beverage. More changes expected in the coming months: A new happy hour, charbroiled oysters, and more domestic craft brews on tap at the main bar.
