If you're never able to show the ruthlessness required to grab a Muses shoe or Nyx purse the old fashioned way during parades, here's the chance to purchase one for charity. Treo owner Pauline Patterson (herself a member of Nyx) has worked with the captains of both all-women krewes to bring this gallery of glittered items to fruition.
Thursday, January 28 is the opening of the show, held in the upstairs gallery of Treo which displays work by local artists all year round. From 6:30 to 9 p.m., enjoy a complementary sparkling wine tasting while perusing the works of art the women of both krewes have achieved with glitter and a glue gun. Proceeds from all sales will go to the Nyx and Muses charitable foundations.
While checking out the goods, enjoy specially crafted cocktails designed by Treo's bar manager Tyler Chauvin. The two drinks pay homage to the color scheme of each krewe, with the "Moscow Muse" served with a blue sugar rim and the "Nyxaquiri" classic daiquiri sporting a pink sugar rim. The cocktails are $6 each at the event.
This would also be an awesome time to indulge in the new menu from Mopho chef Michael Gulotta, who just opened TANA in Treo earlier this month, which highlights Gulotta's Sicilian roots with items like handmade pastas (with boudin noir ragu, whaaat), charred octopus, and lamb over hand rolled couscous.
Shoes and purses will be on display (and for purchase) from January 28 - February 25, 2016.
