LGD Barbecue Hub NOLA Smokehouse To Shutter, CBD Icon The Pearl Closes

Four more days to get Rob Bechtold's glorious barbecue.

Slow-and-low barbecue fave NOLA Smokehouse will close for good this weekend, October 3, Ian McNulty reports today.  Pitmaster Rob Bechtold's brick and mortar has been a critically-acclaimed fixture on Jackson Avenue in the LGD since opening in 2014, and a busy one at that. Sadly, the reason the spot will be closing is due to a "serious illness in the family."  This week the shop will be open Wednesday to Saturday, September 30-October 3, at 11:30 a.m. until sold out.

Canal Street icon The Pearl, known primarily for its awesome neon sign, has just shuttered after 80 years in business, Todd Price reports.  Owner and octogenarian Marie Parque, who purchased the restaurant in 1982, has decided to retire and has sold the property and business.
