President Of The United States Barack Obama dropped into town yesterday to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of Katrina. He also managed to work in some serious dining. Brett Anderson reports that Obama ordered fried chicken at Willie Mae's, the Treme restaurant that was saved after Katrina by dozens of volunteers and the support of the Southern Foodways Alliance. Special guest Leah Chase, legendary chef and restaurateur of nearby Treme icon Dooky Chase, stopped in to visit as well. Also, apparently this happened:
Pres Obama says he had fried chicken at Willie Mae's but "got a grease spot on my suit." "Just glad I didn't get it on my tie," he said.

Brett Anderson also takes a moment to lament the days that Willie Mae's had no lines (pre-Katrina) and asks what the measure of success really is in the post-Katrina New Orleans, as "we've grown accustomed to living inside a photo opportunity."
Later on in the afternoon Bywater favorite Pizza Delicious tweeted about folks with White House lanyards picking up over a dozen pizzas, so if the president didn't get a taste, perhaps his staff did:
Today at 3:45pm, we had a 13 pie order picked up by folks wearing @WhiteHouse lanyards. We are dying to know. @POTUS: how was your pizza?
