FRENCH QUARTER— This week, all of the proceeds from Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse, Bourbon House and Tableau's "Temp Lunch Specials" will be donated to organizations that helped the local Katrina recovery effort, called Meals For Recovery. They'll be serving meals similar to the ones served ten years ago to feed the workers and citizens returning to the city. All meals will be $10, and served through Friday 8/28. [EaterWire]

MARIGNY— Continental Provisions and Bacchanal are teaming up for a wine and cheese pairing and mozzarella making workshop tomorrow (Wednesday, 8/26), 6-8pm at the new Dirty Coast Press store at 2121 Chartres Street. In addition to cheese, meats and bread will be available for purchase as well. [Twitter]

METAIRIE— "Self-professed comic book nerd" Marcus Collins turned into a superhero at the Turtle Lounge in Metairie last week when an armed attacker with a beef with a neighbor and fellow bar patron came back to settle his score with three guns. Collins helped several patrons get out the door in the initial confusion, helped arm other hostages, and finally, jumped and disarmed the gunman. Damn, y'all. [Advocate]

GULF SHORES, AL— Road trip alert! Check out some of the hottest chefs from the south (as well as local breweries Good People, Straight to Ale, Fairhope Brewing, and Cahaba Brewing) on November 6-7 with the The Hangout Oyster Cook-Off & Craft Beer Weekend. Alon Shaya, Ryan Prewitt, and Cory Bahr are representing Louisiana. [EaterWire]
