Opening Report: Shake Sugary Reopens in Bywater, La Mansion Hits Riverbend

Two new openings in a month of doldrums.

BYWATER— Shake Sugary, the homegrown bakery that serves up an array of tasty sweet and savory pastries including vegan and vegetarian options, has finally moved into its cheerful new location on St. Claude near Piety. Get yourself some quiche, a sweet roll and iced coffee inside the mean green shop, Wed-Sat 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Certified Open: 3304 St. Claude Avenue. (504) 355-9343.

RIVERBEND— A brand new mom-and-pop spot focusing on authentic Tex Mex and Latin food, La Mansion, is now open inside the former location of Taj of India (and before that Sara's).  Proprietor Edwin Guzman tells Eater that the restaurant serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner (in the $15 dollar range) with a full bar focusing on margaritas, beer and wine from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
