Former Geautreau's sous chef Nick Lama opens the doors to his highly-anticipated Italian eatery Avo this evening in the former Martinique Bistro space, Todd Price reports. The swanky revamp of the space was done by design firm Brooks Graham of Mariza, Cochon Butcher and Herbsaint fame.
Lama's menu is inspired by dishes from his family—they have a hefty background in the New Orleans culinary world, operating Bucktown seafood restaurants and the St. Roch Market prior to Katrina—including pastas galore. Prepare to drool:
Hours: Monday and Wed-Sat, 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday (for brunch) 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
