Saints quarterback and relentless Jimmy John's franchise-slinger Drew Brees has just become a partner in Baton Rouge-based sports bar Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar and sister bar Happy's Irish Pub as of this week. Brees and his wife Brittany will play an active role in the business, especially as the team pushes to take the brand national. Walk On's—voted ESPN's Best Sports Bar in America in 2013— is already well on its way to national chaindom with four Louisiana locations, a franchise in St. Charles on the way, and Houma and more markets on standby, though Brees isn't ready to divulge all expansion plans just yet.
Per a press release, Brees' new partner and Walk-On's cofounder Brandon Landry expressed his delight with the deal:
When you consider all the people we could have associated our brand with, there is absolutely no one I can think of that would be higher on our wish list than Brittany and Drew... I'm very fortunate and honored to call the Breeses my partners.
According to Chelsea Brasted at The Times-Pic, this is "the second major change in ownership for the company in the past 18 months" as founding partner Jack Warner peaced out of the operation in January 2014. The financial terms are remaining confidential.
