Sad news this afternoon, with Todd Price reporting that Emeril's Nola chef du cuisine Josh Laskay has passed away at the age of 38: "The ultimate cause of death was a lung infection he developed after spending a month in the intensive care unit at Ochsner Hospital."
Laskay, a New Orleans native and graduate of De La Salle High School, studied at Delgado and began his career as a bartender. He rose through Emeril's ranks in the kitchen, first joining the restaurant to plate desserts in 2002 and eventually earning the position of chef du cuisine in 2009.
