Downtown's Outdoor Dining Boom; Man Find Foods NOLA Episode Airs Tonight

Plus, Avery's Place loses right to booze, and city officials celebrate the smoking ban.

CARROLLTON— The Alcohol Beverage Control board has revoked West Carrollton bar Avery's Place's (8838 Willow) right to booze, Robert Morris reports, after an investigation turned up that one of the owner's is a "convicted felon and thus not allowed to operate a bar." [UptownMessenger]

NOLA— Tonight's episode of Adam Richman's Man Find Foods features New Orleans restaurants, including McClure's Barbecue's super secret off-menu redfish that's smoked on the halfshell and topped with crab and clarified butter, plus more from Pizza Delicious, Bayou Hot Wings and Parkway. Airs tonight on Travel Channel at 8 p.m. central time.  [Eaterwire]

NOLA— Ian McNulty reports that more outdoor dining has been popping up in the Warehouse District and CBD because of the "changing profile of the area," including the upcoming South Market District offerings Willa Jean, Company Burger, and Ursa Major, along with newcomers Wood, Marcello's and more. NOLA— City officials—including smoking-free ordinance mastermind Latoya Cantrell— gathered today to usher in the smoking ban and thank bars for doing so too. Despite an impending lawsuit against the city from Harrah's and 50+ bars/restaurants,  Nola health department director Charlotte Parent says the transition has "gone smoothly." [Gambit]
